Over 100 cab drivers arrested for staging road roko

Over 100 private taxi drivers and maxi cab drivers were arrested when they staged a road roko disrupting traffic on Balasundaram road in Coimbatore. The demanded amendment to the 1988 Motor Vehicle Act that stated that drivers should not work beyond 8 hours. They also sought reduction of vehicle insurance premium that had gone up due to GST. They protested when the Regional Transport Office authorities refused to meet them.
