Bengaluru: Rains may have reduced but the flood situation is still grim in Kodagu district.

Besides, the weather forecast indicates that moderate to very heavy rain in Kodagu district may further worsen the situation over there, reports The Hindu. Over 3,500 have been rescued in the rain-ravaged district so far by the rescue personnel. However, the rescue personnel are still receiving messages of people trapped in interior areas.

The rescue personnel are finding it tough to reach to the stranded people as many roads have been destroyed in the rain. They are taking the help of local youth who are familiar with the landscape. Meanwhile, water resistant drones are being used to locate the stranded people in Kodagu.

For, several hundred are still suspected to be trapped in interior villages of the district that has seen many landslides. About 50 Dogra Regiment soldiers, 12 expert naval divers, 62 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force, 750 fire service personnel, Home guards and hundreds of volunteers are involved in the rescue mission. The State government has set up 36 relief centres in the district where 3,601 rescued are staying.
