Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani hit out at Rahul Gandhi after the Congress president called the BJP poll manifesto ‘sankalp patra’ short-sighted and arrogant.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s remark, Union minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday said the Congress president was obsessed with the BJP.

“Rahul Gandhi has a special obsession with BJP. Had he been focused on the country, the nation would have come to know his vision for it,” Smriti Irani told news agency ANI.

Saying that Rahul Gandhi has a vision, Smriti Irani added that the Congress leader was not an effective leader. “Despite having a vision, there’s a question mark on his efficiency as nation knows the condition of Amethi,” Smriti Irani said.

The Union minister, Smriti Irani, said, “On one hand there’s an efficient govt which has taken resolution to build a New India, on the other, there’s a man who stays restricted to making announcements.”

Earlier, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had accused the BJP manifesto of not being representative of the people of India.

Rahul Gandhi had compared the manifestos of BJP and Congress, and said the Congress manifesto “was created through discussion”.

“The BJP manifesto, on the other hand, was created in a closed room, said Rahul Gandhi.

Calling the Congress manifesto wise and powerful, Rahul Gandhi said the party manifesto represented the voice of a million people.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi had said the BJP manifesto was “the voice of an isolated man”.

“The BJP manifesto was created in a closed room. The voice of an isolated man, it is short-sighted and arrogant,” Rahul Gandhi had written on Twitter.
