A rape case has been registered against veteran actor Alok Khan by Mumbai Police on the basis of complaint registered by writer Vinta Nanda.

The writer-producer had filed a complaint against the actor, known for his sanskaari image in the entertainment industry, on October 17 at the Oshiwara police station. She had mentioned details of the sexual assault in her complaint and the Mumbai Police had assured her that an FIR would be filed against him after thorough investigation.

“Mumbai Police Additional CP Manoj Sharma says ‘Oshiwara Police has registered an FIR against Alok Nath under section 376 of IPC (rape) on the complaint filed by Writer Vinta Nanda.’,” ANI tweeted.

Vinta had accused actor Alok Nath of sexually violating her almost 19 years back in a heart-wrenching Facebook post on October 8. The actor and his wife had filed a defamation case against the writer-producer seeking Re 1 as compensation.

Nanda also took to social media later to write an open letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for his intervention.
